What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America, on their first trip to Japan and having arrived the previous night. Throughout the tour, they asked a wide variety of questions about transportation for their 10-day itinerary, recommendations, and shopping spots. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, perhaps influenced by the drama "SHOGUN," they asked about the Meiji Restoration and the definition of samurai, which made me feel that watching SHOGUN would be worthwhile. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, they seemed to enjoy their lunch at the counter seats of a sushi restaurant. On a 6-hour tour that includes Meiji Shrine and the East Gardens, visiting three to four locations inevitably means walking close to 10 km each time, which was a somewhat demanding itinerary for the first day of sightseeing right after arriving in Japan. However, the route and timing chosen to avoid crowds as much as possible seemed to work well.
