Tour Itinerary in Detail
The tour started at 10:00 at @Conrad lobby and ended at 16:15. The day ran to 6 hours and 15 minutes from start to finish. It included lunch @Oreryu Shio Ramen at 13:00.
Over the course of the day the route took in Meiji Shrine at 10:30, East Gardens of the Imperial Palace at 12:00, Kagurazaka at 14:00 and Akihabara at 15:20.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Shiodome to Yoyogi by subway (220JPY); Meiji-jingumae to Otemachi by subway (210JPY); Takebashi to Kagurazaka by subway (180JPY); Iidabashi to Akihabara by train (150JPY). Across 4 sections the fare came to 760JPY per person.

The guests were a group visiting from North America. One of them travels to Japan several times a year for work, but for the rest of the group it was their first visit, except for one who had been before. Based on their request for places with historical significance, Akihabara, and spots that are not overly touristy, I guided them through the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, Kagurazaka, and Akihabara. Since one of the guests practiced Reiki and was interested in spiritual places, I included Meiji Shrine, said to be one of the most powerful spiritual spots in Tokyo. I learned that in North America Reiki is sometimes incorporated into medical settings, and one of the guests volunteers at a hospital. During this trip they also planned to visit Mount Kurama in Kyoto, said to be the birthplace of Reiki. I too learned a lot about Reiki.
In Kagurazaka, I guided them not only through the back alleys but also to a local supermarket and a power-stone shop that one of the guests would likely enjoy. In Akihabara, I showed them shops that the guests would likely find interesting. We parted ways in Akihabara, and they planned to shop at their own pace afterward, pinning various spots on Google Maps. Having visited Japan many times, one of the guests said they knew the way back. I may have had them walk a bit too much, but I believe they were satisfied.

Tokyo Walking Tour
We did a six-hour walking tour of Tokyo with Yoko and she was an exceptional guide. We saw multiple shrines (Meiji Shrine is a must see), the Imperial Palace, the “crossing” (there is a similar intersection in the Ginza shopping district which was also cool), the Tokyo Station, and the outer market where we ordered some fatty toro nigiri which was an etherial experience. Can’t say enough good things about Yoko. She taught ys a ton about the history of Japan and had a great sense of humor. A+

Fantastic day exploring Tokyo
This was our first time visiting Tokyo and spending a day with Yoko as our guide was perhaps the best decision we could have made. Even before we arrived we traded messages with Yoko about what we might like to do. She offered valuable tips which made not only our time in Tokyo more efficient but while in Japan as a whole. We saw so many amazing things but Yoko also gave us a primer in using the Tokyo subway system and navigating some of the stations. I could go on and list all the things we did but each tour will be different. However I would highly recommend Yoko as a guide. Perhaps serendipitous, but we were stopped on the street the day after we toured with Yoko by a couple who had a list of things to do but was unsure how to go about doing the things on their list and where those things were located. I was thankful we chose the best guide so we didn’t have that problem.
