Tour Itinerary
- 10:00 Meet at Hotel Levant, coordinate the tour
- 10:30 Sightseeing in Akihabara
- 11:00-11:30 From Tokyo Station to Nijubashi
- 12:00-13:00. After visiting Nijubashi, have a meal
- 13:00-13:30. Get off in front of the National Diet Building on the way, visit Hie Shrine
- 13:30-15:00 Move to and visit Meiji Shrine, then head to Takeshita Street
- 15:10-16:05. Move to Asakusa, sightseeing
What Does a Private Family Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Akihabara, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa
The group came to Japan for a family trip. Since they were not familiar with Akihabara, I took them there, and then we visited Nijubashi Bridge and Hie Shrine as requested. After that, we went to Meiji Shrine. One of the guests had a strong interest in Japan and asked many questions, such as why the trains and public places are so clean, and why people in Japan are so polite. In Akihabara, one of the guests, who enjoys photography, took pictures. Since they had already visited Omotesando and Shibuya, which were places we had coordinated by email the day before, I removed those from the plan and focused the tour on the western area. Interestingly, they showed little interest in Takeshita Street and only passed through quickly, so I returned from Harajuku to Asakusa (which had not originally been included in the plan) and added it to the sightseeing route.

Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. Our guide, Kappa-san, modified the typical Hakone tour to accommodate our interests, and is very helpful and knowledgeable. Since the day was very hot (95°F / 35°C) we favored activities that were more shaded or cool, including a walk on a cedar-lined section of the old Tokaido path.

Kappa, our guide met us at the train station and took us all over Kamakura. We saw shrines, the big Buddha, gardens, and the Oceanside! Kappa shared a lot of history about Kamakura, and it was nice to have this background when we were exploring these incredible sites! Highly recommend!

My wife and I were treated to a wonderful walking tour of Tokyo with Kappa. Kappa was very accommodating in designing a tour specifically tailored to our interests. Kappa is a wealth of knowledge regarding the city history, temples and shrine, and Japanese art history. She is a lovely person too. I highly recommend Kappa if you want to learn about Tokyo
