Over the course of the day the route took in Tokyo Station & Imperial Palace at 9:30, Tsukiji Market at 10:45, Happo-en at 13:30, Meiji Shrine at 14:20 and Shibuya at 15:10.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Nishi-Shinjuku to Tokyo by subway (210JPY); Tokyo to Tsukiji by train (210JPY); Tsukiji to Iidabashi by train (330JPY); Iidabashi to Shirokanedai by subway (210JPY); Shirokanedai to Harajuku by train (350JPY); Harajuku to Shibuya by train (150JPY); Shibuya to Tochomae by train (330JPY). Across 7 sections the fare came to 1,790JPY per person.
What Can You See on a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Before a Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America enjoying a day of Tokyo sightseeing before boarding a cruise ship. Both were strong walkers, and we covered about 15,000 steps together, which was very helpful as a guide. They enjoyed every place we visited, but the following three spots were especially popular.
1️⃣ Tsukiji Market: They ate fresh raw oysters priced at 1,000 yen and were impressed by their size and freshness.
2️⃣ Lunch in Kagurazaka: They loved the yuba (tofu skin) lunch served in a traditional 100-year-old house.
3️⃣ Happo-en: They were moved by bonsai trees over 500 years old and the many carp swimming in the pond, saying it was hard to believe they were still in Tokyo.

We cannot say enough good things about our full day tour of Tokyo from Yokohama. It was beyond our expectations, excellent in all aspects. Minoru, our guide from the Japan Guide Agency, and Nobuhiko (?), our driver from Yokohama Sun Taxi, were excellent. They met all our needs with courtesy and efficiency. Prior to the tour Minoru exchanged numerous emails with us. We told him what our interests were, and he proposed an itinerary. We were then able to comment on it, and he incorporated our suggested changes to ensure that we got the best possible tour for the day. For a fee we added two extra hours to our tour. It was well worth it. There is so much to see in Tokyo, and we wanted to be able to get the most out of the day. The tour went like clockwork, and we were able to cover the entire itinerary. Everything was efficient and well-coordinated by Minoru. We had no wasted time and were even able to include a leisurely lunch at a quaint Japanese restaurant. We had a very rainy day in Tokyo and were pleasantly surprised when our driver produced large umbrellas for each of us and after we toured each part of the city no matter where we ended that segment our driver seemed to just appear waiting for us. I cannot imagine it going any better and would highly recommend this tour. On a final note, we booked through Viator but had several dealings directly with the Japan Guide Agency, the agency that managed the tour. They were excellent and they promptly addressed all our questions and concerns via email.
