Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They had arrived in Japan about a week earlier, visited a major theme park resort and then Kyoto, and had returned to Tokyo the previous day. After Tokyo, they planned to take a 12-day cruise around various parts of Japan and a neighboring Asian country. This was their first visit to Japan.

I guided them through Hamarikyu Gardens, the Tsukiji Outer Market, Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple, and Shibuya. They listened attentively to my explanations and enjoyed taking many photos at various spots. Unfortunately, there was light rain in the morning, but it cleared up around noon. We visited both traditional and modern places, and the guests seemed satisfied with every location we visited. Since they had requested Western-style food for lunch, we went to a restaurant in Asakusa, and they said it was delicious.

After the tour, they were planning to meet an acquaintance in Shibuya, so at our final stop in Shibuya I explained how they could return to their hotel, and we concluded the tour.

A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. Visitors enter through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) with its massive red lantern, then pass along Nakamise-dori, a lively shopping street lined with stalls selling traditional snacks and souvenirs. The temple grounds, including the main hall and five-story pagoda, offer a vivid glimpse into both the religious traditions and the everyday culture of old Tokyo.
