What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report

The large group was divided into two smaller groups, and the tour was conducted by two guides working together. By sharing information with the other guide, I believe we were able to run the tour efficiently. At Hamarikyu Gardens, we enjoyed the Shioiri tidal pond and the former duck-hunting grounds. At Tsukiji Market, we walked around the market, and since the food court was not crowded, each group was able to find seats for lunch. We also visited Yasukuni Shrine to pay our respects and took time to explore the Yushukan Museum. Since this was the first visit to Japan, there was some anxiety about getting to teamLab Borderless, so although we went slightly over the planned time, I accompanied the guests there, and the tour came to an end. A notable stop on the tour was Hamarikyu Gardens. Hamarikyu Gardens is a traditional Japanese landscape garden located in central Tokyo, originally developed as a feudal lord's residence and duck-hunting grounds during the Edo period. The garden is famous for its Shioiri tidal pond, which draws in seawater from Tokyo Bay and changes its appearance with the tides. Visitors can also enjoy a historic teahouse set on the pond, where matcha and traditional sweets are served, offering a peaceful contrast to the surrounding modern skyscrapers.
