What's a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from North America. They expressed a wish to see the classic sightseeing spots, so I took them to Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, the Imperial Palace and East Gardens, and Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple. Everyone had a strong interest in Japanese culture and was delighted at each location. They enjoyed the vast and quiet grounds of Meiji Shrine, the lively atmosphere of Takeshita Street and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and the bustle of Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple. The rain did not become heavy, so walking around was not a burden, and they spent an enjoyable day.

A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is the oldest temple in Tokyo, with origins dating back to the 7th century, making it one of the city's most significant religious and cultural landmarks. Visitors approach the main hall through the iconic Kaminarimon, or "Thunder Gate," with its massive red lantern, and continue along Nakamise-dori, a lively shopping street lined with stalls selling traditional snacks and souvenirs. The temple grounds, including the five-story pagoda and the incense cauldron in front of the main hall, offer a vivid glimpse into Japan's spiritual traditions and remain one of the most popular destinations for visitors to Tokyo.

A lot of foreigners are visiting Japan, but I would like them to think, “I am glad that I learned about Japanese culture and enjoyed it. I want to come again.” I want you to have a fun experience as well as to guide you to the standard sightseeing courses. I’m always trying to be able to guide like that. And I’m also looking for an Instagramable point that will be your memory. After graduating from university, I have been in Sapporo for 16 years, Osaka for 4 years, Sendai for 2 years, and Tokyo for a total of 12 years. But now, I’m mainly guiding in the Tokyo area due to living here. I especially love Ueno, Asakusa, and Kawagoe. They are cities where you feel the history and are full of people’s kindness. Please feel free to contact me, I want to meet you. Let’s have a fun day and envoy together!
