What Is a Private Walking Tour of Ginza, Asakusa, and the Tokyo National Museum Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests shared many thoughts during the tour. They mentioned that both work in the medical field and that one had retired several years ago, now handling cleaning and gardening at home while the other usually does the cooking. They noted that some people think hospital doctors are better than community family doctors, but they disagreed, explaining that family doctors have to know everything.
They talked about how ride-hailing services and traditional black taxis compete, with the ride-hailing option keeping prices low to attract more customers. They explained that anyone can become a ride-hailing driver, but to become a black taxi driver you must pass tests and know all the streets.
They observed that many people from Africa and Asia had settled in their home region, working very hard to send their children to good schools and good companies. They also mentioned that people retire around 65 or 66, and that the country loses long-experienced workers, referring to this as ageism. They noted that the unemployment rate in their home region is about 4 percent, and that maternity leave of up to a year is available.
They also shared that they face the same problem of scamming, since seniors are not always comfortable with AI.
We spent about an hour enjoying the birthplace of Ginza and other notable sights, then visited Asakusa and the National Museum, and the guests appeared very satisfied. A notable stop on the tour was the Tokyo National Museum. Located in Ueno Park, it is the oldest and largest museum in Japan, housing one of the world's most comprehensive collections of Japanese art and antiquities. Its galleries display everything from ancient pottery and samurai swords to Buddhist sculptures, ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and elegant kimono, offering visitors a broad overview of Japan's artistic and cultural heritage across the centuries.

Hideaki was our guide today and he did an outstanding job. We walked in the rain but he did the best to show us as much of Tokyo as possible.

Private guide – a very good experience
We spent a half day with Hideaki Wada, which can be highly recommended. He was on time on the spot, very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and spoke good English. We made a plan, followed it and ended up with a little extra time.

Unforgettable day in Tokyo with Hideaki — incredible with kids
Hideaki was the highlight of our time in Tokyo. We were a group of six — two grandparents and two young kids — and he handled every dynamic with ease. Patient, warm, and endlessly accommodating, he read the energy of the group and adjusted the pace so no one ever felt rushed or left behind. He was especially wonderful with our kids, keeping them engaged and curious all day — from the grandeur of the Imperial Palace, to shopping, to the wonderful craziness of Shinjuku. As a licensed guide his knowledge was deep, but what set him apart was how genuinely kind and thoughtful he was with our whole family. If you want a guide who treats you like family and makes Tokyo come alive for all ages, book Hideaki. Highest possible recommendation — thank you, Hideaki!
