Title: What Does a First-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
This was a first-day tour in Japan for guests visiting from Europe, who would continue to Kyoto and Osaka after Tokyo. Heavy rain was forecast for the early morning, so I was concerned, but I was relieved that there were no train delays. Since the guests did not have any cash at first, they withdrew Japanese yen at a convenience store on Takeshita Street. In the latter half of the tour, the rain grew stronger, so we walked a little faster, and with the extra time we visited the covered Kappabashi area, which the guests had planned to see on a later day. They listened carefully to the explanations at each location and were very pleasant to guide. As the guests followed a plant-based diet, we went to a ramen shop inside Ueno Station that I had researched in advance, where they also enjoyed a matcha latte and were very pleased. They mentioned that they eat rice and tofu every day. They drew an omikuji fortune at Meiji Shrine and received a charm at Kiyomizu Kannon-do. After the tour, since they had a reservation for Skytree, I guided them to the Tobu Line platform and the tour concluded. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine, a major Shinto shrine set within a large forested area in the heart of Tokyo. Dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, the shrine is known for its tranquil atmosphere, towering torii gates, and tree-lined approaches, making it a popular place for visitors to experience traditional Japanese customs such as drawing omikuji fortunes.

We had a lovely introductory tour of the part of Tokyo we wanted to visit over the 6 hours together. Takako Yoshida had contacted us beforehand to discuss our requirements for the tour. She also made some good suggestions in terms of ensuring the travel time was kept to a minimum.
It was lovely spending time with her. She was both informative and approachable.

6 hour guided tour of Tokyo
Our wonderful guide, Takako, took us on a tour of Tokyo. She helped us create a plan based on our interests and was flexible when we needed to change the itinerary a bit due to extreme heat. She was friendly, informative, and helpful. We enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and history from Takako, and we saw amazing temples and ate delicious sushi. I highly recommend this tour and Takako as a guide!

We had an amazing day with Takako. Takako got in contact prior to our tour to create the perfect itinerary. She collected us from our hotel and helped us get our travel cards and showed us how to use the public transport. Takako altered our tour and took us to Harajuku Takeshite street, which our teenagers really enjoyed. Takako was really informative and friendly and made the day really enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in booking her again. Takako showed us more in 6 hours than we would have seen in a week if left to our own devices. Thanks Takako and we will watch The Transporter!
