# What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report

[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private full-day Tokyo tour for guests visiting Japan for the first time. I was happy to help take many commemorative photos for the group. Some of the guests had visited Asia before, while for others this was a first trip to the region. The guests had traveled from Osaka and Kyoto to Tokyo by Shinkansen. In the Kansai region they had hired a guide from Europe, and I was their first Japanese guide. Among themselves they spoke a European language, but they also spoke very fluent English. They mentioned that they lived in Europe.

The guests had a very pop and stylish sense of fashion, wearing a hat with a necktie and belt that they said they had bought in Osaka. When we strolled along Takeshita Street in Harajuku, they were very excited, saying, "There are so many cute things sold here!" In Shibuya, since they had told me their last sightseeing day in Tokyo would be dedicated entirely to shopping, I verbally shared the locations of PARCO, which houses the Nintendo store, and Mega Don Quijote. Perhaps because they had already finished sightseeing in Kyoto, I got the impression that they were more drawn to lively places than to historical sites or spots offering quiet and stillness.

Since they had also expressed in advance a wish to see a few lesser-known spots, I had originally planned to guide them to Aoyama Cemetery. However, when one of the guests asked, "Where is the cat billboard?" this became the trigger for our plan. As the Shinkansen the previous day had arrived at Shinagawa, they had not seen Tokyo Station, so after touring Tokyo Station, we decided to head to Shinjuku via the Chuo Line. They were very pleased with the 3D digital cat billboard and the Godzilla Head in Kabukicho, and took many photos.

For lunch, since they had already tried ramen several times, they mentioned that although they loved it, they wanted to try something different. When I asked whether they had tried Japanese curry, the answer was "not yet." By chance, just before reaching Zojoji Temple, we discovered an udon restaurant serving curry udon. They had not eaten breakfast and were just getting hungry, so we ended up eating there, and they were very satisfied. They plan to visit Hakone the next day.
