Tour Itinerary in Detail

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from Europe and were visiting Japan for the first time. They planned to travel to Hida-Takayama, Kyoto, Osaka, Koyasan, and Hiroshima after sightseeing in Tokyo. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. The guests asked for help purchasing bullet train and other tickets to travel to Hida-Takayama, so I guided them to the ticket office at Tokyo Station and assisted with the ticket purchase. At the Tokyo National Museum, they were delighted to be able to learn about Japanese culture and history. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines and about the Kaminarimon Gate, and they purchased souvenirs such as ukiyo-e prints along Nakamise Street. Since I responded exactly as the guests wished, I believe they were satisfied.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well.
