Tour Itinerary in Detail
Meeting at @Hotel at 9:00, the group explored Tokyo until the tour ended at 15:00. The day ran to 6 hours from start to finish.
The itinerary covered Asakusa at 9:30, Shibuya at 11:00, Meiji Shrine at 11:45, Harajuku at 13:00 and Shinjuku at 14:00.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Shimbashi to Asakusa by subway (210JPY); Asakusa to Shibuya by subway (260JPY); Shibuya to Harajuku by train (150JPY); Harajuku to Shinjuku by train (150JPY). Across 4 sections the fare came to 770JPY per person.
What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests came from North America. They had already spent about two weeks sightseeing in the Kansai, Hokuriku, and Chubu regions, and Tokyo was their final destination. Since the day with the guide was the only chance for sightseeing within the city, I showed them the major attractions. These guests had carefully read the explanations on the website and kindly provided all the necessary information before I even asked, which was very helpful.
We started from Shimbashi, the nearest station, but the Ginza Line platform heading toward Shibuya was full and entry was being restricted. We were heading in the opposite direction, so we were lucky to pass through the ticket gate smoothly. The guests did not seem to particularly enjoy Japanese food, so we had a light meal in the rest area of Meiji Jingu.
The guests planned to take the Romancecar from Shinjuku to Hakone the following day, so I helped them purchase a Hakone Free Pass at Shinjuku Station and explained where to board the train. When I took them to a department store food hall in Shinjuku, they seemed to love it. They also bought baby clothes at Uniqlo as a gift. They were a very kind and lovely group.
The next day, they sent me a photo taken with Mount Fuji in the background via a messaging app, which made me very happy.

Tokyo Walking Tour
We did a six-hour walking tour of Tokyo with Yoko and she was an exceptional guide. We saw multiple shrines (Meiji Shrine is a must see), the Imperial Palace, the “crossing” (there is a similar intersection in the Ginza shopping district which was also cool), the Tokyo Station, and the outer market where we ordered some fatty toro nigiri which was an etherial experience. Can’t say enough good things about Yoko. She taught ys a ton about the history of Japan and had a great sense of humor. A+

Fantastic day exploring Tokyo
This was our first time visiting Tokyo and spending a day with Yoko as our guide was perhaps the best decision we could have made. Even before we arrived we traded messages with Yoko about what we might like to do. She offered valuable tips which made not only our time in Tokyo more efficient but while in Japan as a whole. We saw so many amazing things but Yoko also gave us a primer in using the Tokyo subway system and navigating some of the stations. I could go on and list all the things we did but each tour will be different. However I would highly recommend Yoko as a guide. Perhaps serendipitous, but we were stopped on the street the day after we toured with Yoko by a couple who had a list of things to do but was unsure how to go about doing the things on their list and where those things were located. I was thankful we chose the best guide so we didn’t have that problem.
