タイトル欄: What Is a Private Foodie Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, and Kagurazaka

本文欄: The guests were visitors from North America. Since they had introduced themselves during our earlier exchanges as foodies who love to eat, I suggested Tsukiji. Along with that, they had requested a mix of major sightseeing spots and lesser-known places for shopping, so I guided them to Meiji Shrine and Kagurazaka.

Originally we had planned to visit the Shibuya Scramble Crossing as well, but after enjoying a lot of food sampling around Tsukiji, we ran over time. I suggested we choose either Shibuya or Kagurazaka for the rest of the day, and we decided on Kagurazaka.

In the past I might have tried to force both into the schedule and gone over time, but I reflected on that, and I feel I have grown a little as a guide. In particular, the guests had signed up for a chopstick-making class in Ginza at 5:00, so I needed to finish on time. They were very easygoing and kind guests, which was wonderful.

We had a late lunch in Kagurazaka, wandered the back streets while shopping, and I wrote down directions to Ginza on a piece of paper to hand over before seeing them off at Iidabashi Station.

Later, the guests sent me photos of the chopstick-making session via a messaging app. I was glad they were able to take part without any trouble.

I’m Yoko Kusumoto, a government lisenced English-speaking guide.
I have been living in Tokyo for more than 20 years, and it’s my pleasure to show you around Tokyo. I recommend Meiji Shrine and Asakusa if you are first time in Japan. I also recommend off-the-beaton path spots like Fukagawa Fudodo and Gotokuji Temple(lucky cat temple).
I was born and brought up in Kamakura, where the first shogun’s government was established. It will be my pleasure to introduce you my hometown as well.

I live with my husband and one teenage son.
I like traveling, flowers, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and exploring Tokyo.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.
