Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Since no requests for specific locations had been sent in advance, I asked about their preferences on the morning of the tour. They wanted to see many places but preferred to avoid rushing, so we walked at a relatively relaxed pace. Interestingly, the day before this tour, they had already visited Ueno and gotten tattoos. This was a first-time experience for one of them, while the other already had colorful tattoos on the arm and chest done back home.

After seeing the Godzilla Head in Kabukicho and the 3D cat billboard in front of Shinjuku Station, we took the subway from Shinjuku-sanchome Station next to Isetan. At Meiji Shrine, they had initially said there was no need to visit the souvenir shops, but they mentioned wanting to buy traditional candy, so we stopped by a souvenir shop, and in the end they purchased a considerable amount of various souvenirs, including dorayaki and magnets. Later on Takeshita Street, they also bought several souvenirs for relatives. One of the guests loves cats and animals, so we first got excited talking about Mocha the cat at a cat cafe, and they actually made a reservation at a piglet cafe. Since they were going sightseeing at Mount Fuji the next day, they confirmed a reservation for the morning of the day after next and looked forward to revisiting Takeshita Street. They also seemed interested in the Sanrio shop and vintage shop T-shirts.

For lunch, I took them to Gransta Yaenaka, which has several restaurants, but they said they wanted me, the guide, to make the final recommendation. Considering that they had eaten ramen the previous night, I recommended Danchu Shokudo, where they could enjoy healthy and typical Japanese food. They were very satisfied with the ginger pork set meal and the shumai set meal. Next, for one of the guests who loves Ghibli, we went to the Ghibli shop on Character Street underneath Tokyo Station, but there was a queue, so we gave up on entering. At the basement food hall of Nihonbashi Takashimaya, they were delighted by the seasonal fruit. They were surprised at how expensive the mangoes were.

At the Nissan showroom in Ginza, one of the guests got very excited about a dream car. They took a test ride and photos. Speaking with the staff, we learned that the current Nissan president is from North America (Ivan Espinosa, who took office in April 2025). This made them even more excited. At our final stop in Shibuya, after introducing the Scramble Crossing and the Hachiko statue, I guided them to places where they could enjoy shopping after the tour. For one of the guests who loves fashion and Sanrio, I introduced Shibuya 109 from the outside and then took them to Mega Don Quijote. At the tank near the entrance, we discovered a large, unusual fish and took photos. Finally, in response to a request to visit the Nintendo shop, we reached the sixth floor of Parco, where we said our goodbyes.
