What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Akihabara

I guided a group visiting Japan from North America. From the start, the guests were both wearing black masks, which I found a little surprising at first, but they explained that they were being cautious during their travels, and since they seemed to be in good spirits, I decided not to worry about it and proceeded with the tour. Since all the places they wanted to visit had been communicated through a travel agency, I planned the itinerary accordingly. They were deeply moved by the forest of Meiji Shrine. They bought a parasol at the shrine's souvenir shop, and it was put to use right away. One of the guests had a lot of character goods, and it was clear that the guests enjoyed anime, as they reacted with interest to many things in Harajuku and Akihabara. At the Tokyo National Museum, they said it was fascinating to see how the exhibits changed over time, given Japan's long history. For lunch, we went to a Japanese restaurant, where the guests enjoyed a grilled eel set and a salmon and salmon roe rice bowl set, and were very satisfied. It was heartwarming to see one of the guests earnestly memorize and use the phrase "gochisousama deshita." As originally planned, the tour concluded in Akihabara.
