Can You Do a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Covering Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shinjuku Gyoen? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group of three visiting from North America. They arrived in Japan and were on a trip of about two weeks, planning to visit Kyoto and other places after Tokyo. One member of the group planned to remain in Japan afterward to study at a Japanese language school.

For this tour, there was no reply from the guests until just before the day. The first list of places they wished to visit arrived on the morning of the day before the tour. However, since it was a list of ten locations, including places that required reservations, I explained that we would not be able to go to places requiring reservations on such short notice, and that we could only cover three or four locations. The final, feasible list of places to visit was then sent after 6:00 p.m. the day before.

After meeting the guests on the morning of the tour, I confirmed that lunch was not needed and that there was no need to return to the Hotel at the end of the tour, and we set off. I guided them around Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shinjuku Gyoen. At the start, Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku had been set as the final stop and the place to part ways, but since they did some shopping along the way, which took time, and because we walked in hot and humid weather, the guests appeared to be tired. When we discussed it at Shinjuku Gyoen, which was the stop before the final destination, they decided to return to the Hotel. I explained how to get back to the Hotel, and we parted ways at Shinjuku-gyoemmae Station.
