Title: What's a Private Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Yanaka Food and Culture Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

I guided a group visiting from North America. It was so hot that one might not want to go outside, and I was worried, but they said they were used to the heat and had prepared parasols, fans, and cooling wipes, and they stayed energetic until the end while staying well hydrated, which was a relief. Tsukiji was uncrowded on a weekday and some shops were closed, but the guests enjoyed tuna sushi, strawberries, strawberry daifuku, mitarashi dango, and grilled wagyu and sea urchin skewers. They shopped at almost every shop I introduced, including a tableware shop in Tsukiji, a wooden box shop, a bamboo craft shop in Yanaka, a paper shop, and a candy shop in Nezu, and enjoyed interacting with the shop staff. At a greengrocer in Yanaka they also bought cherries and peaches. They also bought necessities at a drugstore and a convenience store. For lunch we went to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, where they enjoyed flounder, inari sushi, tuna rolls, cucumber rolls, tempura horse mackerel, and edamame, though salmon roe was not to their taste. When we moved from Asakusa to Nippori by bus, they were delighted as it was their first time on a bus. Like many others, they liked the quiet atmosphere of Yanaka. They filmed videos here and there for the family they had left at home. They also showed interest in stories about history and buildings and asked questions. They told me they had a wonderful time, and we ended the tour reluctant to say goodbye.
