Tour Itinerary
- 10:00-10:40 Meet at hotel, move to Sensoji Temple
- 10:40-11:50 Sightseeing at Sensoji Temple
- 11:50-12:20 Move to Nijubashi Bridge
- 12:20-13:00 Move to Akihabara
- 13:10-14:40 Lunch and stroll in Akihabara
- 14:40-15:30 Move to Harajuku, four people get off along the way for shopping
- 15:30-15:50 Return to hotel, disband
Can You Do a Private One-Day Group Tour of Tokyo Including Akihabara and Harajuku? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a large group visiting Japan. We adjusted the schedule several times before the tour. In line with the group's requests, we included two sightseeing spots along with shopping in Akihabara and Harajuku, but in hindsight I think it would have been better to limit the itinerary to three locations, even with car transportation. In our email exchanges beforehand, no request for shopping had come up, but the group asked to extend the stay in Akihabara, and in Harajuku some of the guests wanted to shop more and left the group. Japan seems to have many attractive things to offer. With a group spanning different generations and varied tastes, it was difficult to satisfy everyone completely.

Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. Our guide, Kappa-san, modified the typical Hakone tour to accommodate our interests, and is very helpful and knowledgeable. Since the day was very hot (95°F / 35°C) we favored activities that were more shaded or cool, including a walk on a cedar-lined section of the old Tokaido path.

Kappa, our guide met us at the train station and took us all over Kamakura. We saw shrines, the big Buddha, gardens, and the Oceanside! Kappa shared a lot of history about Kamakura, and it was nice to have this background when we were exploring these incredible sites! Highly recommend!

My wife and I were treated to a wonderful walking tour of Tokyo with Kappa. Kappa was very accommodating in designing a tour specifically tailored to our interests. Kappa is a wealth of knowledge regarding the city history, temples and shrine, and Japanese art history. She is a lovely person too. I highly recommend Kappa if you want to learn about Tokyo
