What Does a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
It was a bit hazy, but the weather was fine and it was a very hot day. I encouraged the guests to stay hydrated, lent a parasol, and offered a cooling towel, doing my best to prevent heatstroke. Since the guests had arrived in Shibuya at night before and had not seen the Scramble Crossing or the statue of Hachiko, I guided them there first. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, the guests showed interest in the model of the castle keep and the Japanese garden. They bought snacks at the convenience store in the basement of the Palace Building. In Asakusa we stopped by various shops, but they did not do any shopping. In Akihabara they bought character T-shirts and other items. In Ginza I guided them to Ginza Six, but as they have a fear of heights, we kept the rooftop visit brief and headed to Meiji Jingu Shrine. Meiji Jingu Shrine was cool and seemed to be a favorite. I guided them to the entrance of Takeshita Street, took a photo, and the tour ended. A tip was received.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter of Japan and an expert in Japanese history and culture, and also in nursing and health. I usually work as a Public Health Nurse (PHN) at a Public Health Center in Tokyo, and I hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Additionally, I have a Ph.D. in medical science.
Born in 1957 and raised in Tokyo, I have worked for 33 years mainly in the research and development area for some pharmaceutical companies. Then, I changed my career to nursing and entered a university to obtain a PHN and RN license. I took the Licensed Guide for preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and volunteered in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2021.
