Over the course of the day the route took in Hotel Keisei Ueno-Ekimae at 9:00, Tsukiji Hongwanji, Outer Market at 10:30, Hamarikyu at 11:30, Sensoji Temple at 12:30 and Nezu Shrine, Yanaka Ginza at 15:00.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Ueno to Tsukiji by subway (180JPY); Shimbashi to Asakusa by subway (220JPY); Asakusa to Ueno-hirokoji by subway (180JPY); Ueno-matsuzakaya-mae to Nezu-jinja-iriguchi by bus (210JPY); Nippori to Ueno by train (150JPY). Across 5 sections the fare came to 940JPY per person.
Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like for Guests Who Cannot Walk Long Distances? A Licensed Guide's Report
I guided a group visiting from North America. Since one of the guests could not walk long distances, we used elevators as much as possible, took a taxi from Tsukiji to Hamarikyu Gardens, and borrowed a wheelchair at Hamarikyu. On the way to Shimbashi Station, one of the guests missed the last step of a staircase and fell. Fortunately there were no injuries, and we continued on to Asakusa. After seeing Sensoji Temple, one of the guests had already walked 7,000 steps, so they decided to return to the hotel and I put them in a taxi. Afterward, at an izakaya, the remaining guests enjoyed draft beer and oyakodon, and were very satisfied. When ordering by QR code, I mistakenly ordered a large-size ginger ale, for which I apologized, but everyone laughed at how enormous it was. As an apology, I gave them a lemon candy at a kintaro-ame candy shop, and they liked the flavor. Since we finished ahead of schedule, we also visited Yanaka Ginza, which had not been part of the original plan, before heading back. I am scheduled to accompany the group again for half a day tomorrow.

Great day in Toyko
Four of us spent an enjoyable day touring Tokyo the day before our Japan cruise. Our guide, Takako, was great and ensured we saw what we wanted to see. Tokyo traffic is crazy but our driver, Mr. Isizuka, was amazing. Takako asked for our lunch preference and suggested a terrific steak house…so fun! She explained all the traditions and rituals at the shrine and temple so we felt at ease visiting these places. Because of traffic, we were running a little behind (no fault of hers or our driver) so we only got a drive through of the Ginza area. We will spend one more day in Tokyo at the end of the cruise and now have a better idea of where to concentrate our time. All in all, we had a great time, despite the rain.

Takako, our guide for the day, was an absolutely wonderful companion in Tokyo. She took the time in advance to understand our interests and wishes, and the whole day was tailored exactly to what we wanted to see and experience.
My mother isn’t very steady on her feet and can’t walk long distances, and Takako handled this beautifully, she adjusted the pace and made sure my mother could fully enjoy the day without feeling rushed or left out. It’s reassuring to know that a tour like this can be adapted so well for someone with limited mobility.
Her knowledge, warmth and preparation made the day truly special. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide and can highly recommend her to anyone visiting Tokyo.
