Tour Itinerary

  • 8:00 AM –Meet you at Hotel and explain today’s schedule.
  • 8:15 AM— Depart from　Lively Azabujuban Tokyo　and pick up friends at Hyatt(Grand Hyatte Tokyo)
  • 8:30 Tokyo station, walking to Imperial palace
  • 9:00–9:50 Imperial palace and east garden
  • 10:10–11:00 AM – Asakusa (Stay: ~50 minutes)
  • 11:50–12:35 PM – Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden (Stay: ~45 minutes)
  • 13:10 PM – Takeshita Street

**Title:** What's a Private Group Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace East Gardens, Asakusa, and Harajuku

The guests were a group visiting Japan. This private day tour, arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), started at 8:00 when I met part of the group at their hotel in Azabu-Juban. A bus was waiting in front of the hotel, so I explained the day's itinerary inside the bus. We then picked up the rest of the group from another hotel nearby, bringing the total to a single group, and I explained the day's plan to the second part of the group as well.

Since the Imperial Palace East Gardens (Higashi Gyoen) open at 9:00, I had the bus drop us off at Tokyo Station. There I explained the architecture and history of Tokyo Station. From there we walked to the Otemon Gate, arriving at 9:00. I explained the history of Edo Castle, the design of the Ninomaru Garden, the tea house, and the carp, and the guests listened with great interest.

Next, we spent about 50 minutes in Asakusa, where I talked about the history of Senso-ji Temple, the five-story pagoda, and the historical blending of Shinto and Buddhism. We then went to Shinjuku Gyoen. As it began to rain a little, we stopped at a cafe along the way for some matcha ice cream and strolled while I talked about the history of Naito Shinjuku.

At 1:10 p.m., I guided the guests to the entrance of Takeshita Street and said goodbye. They were truly delighted. The guests said they wished to part ways at Takeshita Street. I offered to show them around Takeshita Street, but they said they would prefer to go wherever they liked, so we parted there.
