Title: What Can You See on a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America. They had come to Japan after being encouraged by a family member who had traveled here earlier and enjoyed it.
After meeting at the hotel, [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guided the group first to the nearby Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, where I introduced the projection mapping and the observation decks and recommended a return visit, before heading to the Tsukiji Outer Market.
Since it was right after breakfast, they could not eat much, but they enjoyed a beef skewer and matcha ice cream. A festival happened to be taking place at the adjacent Namiyoke Shrine, so we watched it, and I explained the difference between temples and shrines and how each has influenced Japanese culture. We then continued to Higashi Honganji Temple, where the group experienced the contrast between shrines and temples firsthand, and they said this helped them clearly understand something that had previously confused them.
One of the guests worked as a teacher and had some knowledge of Japanese history, so at the Imperial Palace in particular I explained the imperial family while describing how Japan reached its present form through the Edo period, the Meiji Restoration, and the postwar era.
After experiencing the busy Shibuya Crossing, crowded on a Saturday, we visited Meiji Shrine, where we were fortunate enough to see a wedding ceremony taking place, which delighted the guests greatly.
The tour was originally planned for four hours but was extended by one hour to five hours at the guests' request. Finally, they wished to visit the Godzilla building in Shinjuku, so we extended the time further before ending the tour.

Highly recommend this tour for first time visit to Tokyo. Our guide Atsushi took great care to acclimate us with navigating through busy train stations efficiently with a group of eight family members. Along the way and at each site he explained various cultural practices and associated histories that made the tour very immersive and enjoyable. Atsushi-san was an incredibly well-researched and friendly tour guide. His knowledge allowed us to explore and get to the historical significance of the various locations we visited. His explanations were simple but comprehensive. The six hours flew by and included some off-the-beaten opportunities including coffee at a very austere but memorable location near the fish market. I would highly recommend him as well as this tour for anyone with limited time in Tokyo wanting see as much as possible

Our guide, Atsushi, was great! He met us at our hotel in Hakone and took us clockwise to tour all the sites. He was informative and taught us a lot. Our group was two adults and a 14 year old. We saw Mt Fuji from the rope way, but unfortunately the pirate ship was canceled because of high wind. We would absolutely use Atsushi again for this tour, or any other tour he provides.
