What's a Private Off-the-Beaten-Path Tour of Asakusa, Nezu, and Yanaka in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America who wanted to avoid crowded tourist spots and instead experience Japanese culture and everyday local life. Some of the guests were learning Japanese through a language-learning app, so practicing Japanese conversation during the tour was one of their requests.
In Asakusa, rather than following the common route from Kaminarimon Gate through Nakamise Street, we first visited a shop selling festival goods and a shop selling traditional Japanese musical instruments, and I explained Japanese history and culture through the various items on sale. The guests purchased a tenugui hand towel featuring a witty rebus-style design.
In Nezu, we strolled through a residential neighborhood where some buildings appeared to date from before the war. We browsed old-fashioned storefronts such as a kimono cleaning shop, a fresh fish shop, and a rice shop, and finally made our way to Yanaka Ginza. At the guests' request, I extended the tour by one hour, allowing them to experience a side of Tokyo with few tourists.

What a lovely experience. I had a great time. Special thanks to my guide Kei for all the
informations. He is so knowledgable. The only negative is the cost of this trip. For this price it
should includes at least transportation and Tuna tasting. It was an experience anyways.
