From there the group visited Shinjuku Gyoen Park at 9:20, the Imperial Palace Sakuradamon-Nijubashi at 10:30, Takeshita St. & Omotesando St. at 11:15, Meiji Jingu Shrine at 11:40 and Shibuya at 12:30.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Sendagaya to Sakuradamon by train (330JPY); Nijubashimae to Meiji-jingumae by train (210JPY); Harajuku to Shibuya by train (150JPY). Across 3 sections the fare came to 690JPY per person.
What Is a Rainy-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from North America, who had a strong interest in Japan, as one of them had once stayed in Japan for a week in the past. Although it rained that day, Shinjuku Gyoen was uncrowded, and the guests enjoyed a quiet stroll through the Japanese garden. At the Imperial Palace, they admired the impressive size of Sakuradamon Gate and the beautiful moats. One of the guests shared Korean customs and asked questions about the Japanese imperial family. On Takeshita Street, the guests were surprised by an animal cafe, and along Omotesando they enjoyed the remarkable architecture. At Meiji Shrine, they were moved by the quiet forest, and we had a lively conversation about religion. After viewing the Shibuya Crossing from above and then crossing it, one of the guests was interested in Nintendo and similar things, so I guided them to PARCO.

I live with my husband and a dog named Alice. She was a rescue dog and I adopted her about 4 years ago. Now she is a very precious family member. I have two daughters, the elder one has a child and the younger has a aroma shop in a town near Mr. Fuji. I sometimes visit there with Alice.

We had an amazing experience on this tour and couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Japan. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made everything easy to understand while sharing so much interesting history and local insight. She took us to a variety of places we wouldn’t have found on our own and made sure we were comfortable the entire time.
This tour is perfect for first-time visitors—it really helps you get familiar with the area, culture, and transportation without feeling overwhelmed. Everything was well-organized, informative, and enjoyable from start to finish. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan!

Our guide Motoko was so polite & engaging. She customised the tour around things we enjoy and took us to a traditional Japanese restaurant for lunch which we would never have found.
We only had a couple of days in Tokyo so wanted to make the most of it. I would highly recommend this tour & Motoko if you are in the same position.
