What's a Private Tokyo Walking Tour of Meiji Shrine and Asakusa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from Europe. It was their third day in Japan, and they already had Mobile Suica cards. Having taken a guided tour toward Kamakura the previous day, they seemed somewhat accustomed to riding Japanese trains. At Meiji Shrine, they were surprised to find such a quiet, green, and lush forest in the middle of the vast metropolis of Tokyo. I gave them a lecture on how to worship, and they experienced it themselves. On the train to Asakusa, I explained the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism in Japan. After arriving, we strolled around Kaminarimon, Nakamise, Sensoji Temple, and Asakusa Shrine. We had ramen for lunch, and parted ways after leaving the restaurant. It was a rainy and chilly day, but as they were used to walking in the rain, it seemed they enjoyed the tour.
