What Can You See on a 4-Hour Private Tokyo Walking Tour with a Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report

The guest was a visitor from North America who had come to Japan several times before for travel. On this occasion, the guest arrived in Tokyo on the morning of the tour, having spent time elsewhere just beforehand. The guide met the guest in front of a sushi restaurant where the guest had been having lunch. I guided the guest to places that had not been covered on previous visits to Tokyo. At Meiji Shrine, it seemed to be the guest's first experience of worship at a Shinto shrine, and the guest engaged in it earnestly. During the 4-hour tour, the guest asked a wide variety of questions, including about the political relationship between China and Japan and public sentiment, and we visited the sights while conversing. The guest was also planning a future trip to Japan with family and repeatedly asked about the best time to travel and Japan's climate. The guest mentioned wanting to come to Japan, a country they had long been interested in, around the time one of the family members graduates from high school next year. After experiencing a tour that involved transferring between public transportation such as the subway, the guest remarked, "I could never do this kind of travel so confidently and efficiently on my own."
