What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report

After the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck, the original plan was to view the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, but upon learning that there is no actual castle standing there, the guests decided to skip it. Instead, we went to the areas of Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Omotesando, and Takeshita Street. From Meiji-jingumae Station, we took the Chiyoda Line to Kasumigaseki Station, transferred to the Marunouchi Line, got off at Korakuen Station, and strolled through Koishikawa Korakuen Garden. As it was the scheduled end time of the tour, we parted ways there. I deliberately used the Marunouchi Line so that it would pass through Ginza Station along the way, allowing me to advise the guests on how to reach Ginza on their own after the tour. Furthermore, since one can travel directly from Ginza to Shibuya on a single Ginza Line ride, I made it easier for them to reach their desired intersection on their own as well. The early autumn blue sky and clouds in this photo were wonderful, perhaps the finest of the entire year.

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.
