What Is a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were very active visitors from Europe who had arrived in Japan two nights earlier. They mentioned that the day before the tour they had walked about 18 kilometers around Tokyo sightseeing. One of the guests enjoyed photography and took pictures everywhere with a large SLR camera. At the Imperial Palace, I explained about the imperial family and the pine trees; at Nezu, I explained the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, the Japanese view of religion, and how to worship at a shrine. They listened with great interest. It seemed they had already studied quite a bit about Japan before their visit. At Meiji Shrine, we happened to come across a wedding ceremony, and I talked about celebrations such as weddings and Shichi-Go-San.
