What Does a Private Tokyo Day Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, and Asakusa
The guests today were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Originally more members had planned to come, but due to an injury one had to cancel the trip, so the tour proceeded with the remaining guests. We went to the Tsukiji Outer Market early in the morning, but it was already crowded. After waiting in line for a while, we were able to enter a popular tuna restaurant and ordered sashimi. They loved the medium-fatty tuna (chutoro) and found it delicious. They were also interested in sea urchin and crab, but noticed these were more expensive and geared toward tourists, so they chose not to order anything besides tuna. We took out some delicious coffee at a coffee shop and then I showed them the Kabukiza Theater. From Higashi-Ginza we headed toward Otemachi and visited the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. Strolling and chatting in a pleasant breeze made for a truly blissful time. Finally, we went to Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Since they were not interested in the Nakamise shopping street, after the Kaminarimon Gate we took a quieter route and visited the main hall. During the tour, one of the guests requested to buy a kitchen knife, so I guided them to Kappabashi (a shop offering name-engraving services and overseas shipping), and the tour concluded.
The guests were very thoughtful and kind, and the atmosphere was pleasant throughout, making it a very enjoyable tour. Thank you again for another wonderful encounter today.

Our guide was friendly…
Our guide was friendly and helpful. She was able to craft an experience for us based on our interests. We weren’t sure how to navigate around Tokyo when we arrived, but we felt ready to explore on our own after she taught us how to get around like a local. We did the tour on our first day and loved it.
