Title: What's an 8-Hour Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Ueno

The guests were staying at a Hotel, a type of long-stay accommodation common in the Ueno and Asakusa areas. It was located roughly midway between Ueno Station and Inaricho Station, but I thought it would be helpful to show the guests how to get to Ueno Station, so the tour started from Ueno Station.

Since the guests wished to have breakfast at Tsukiji, I took them there first. They mentioned that they usually enjoy a hearty breakfast, so we spent a little longer there than usual.

In Asakusa, we also visited Sumida Park, where the cherry blossoms were nearly in full bloom. On a standard 6-hour tour, reaching Kappabashi Kitchenware Street would have brought us close to the end time, but the guests had booked an 8-hour tour, so there was still plenty of time. I therefore also guided them through Ueno Park, which is near the Hotel. From Ueno Park, I walked with them to near the Hotel before we parted ways.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.
