Title: What's a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Shibuya, and Anime Spots
Body:
Since it was the guests' first visit to Japan, they wished to spend a full day seeing various parts of central Tokyo and wanted to have ramen for lunch. With that in mind, we set a rough plan to visit an old district, a newer district, and a garden, and set off on foot.
In Asakusa, we walked past the portable shrines (mikoshi), Nakamise shopping street, Senso-ji Temple, and Asakusa Shrine, and the guests were delighted to recognize many things they had seen in anime. While talking about the history of Edo, we went from Asakusa to Ueno, passing through Ueno Park and Shinobazu Pond before heading to Shibuya. As we talked, I learned that what they really wanted to see were the real-life locations featured in anime, so at Shibuya Station we explored the settings of their favorite anime.
On the way from Shibuya to Harajuku, we looked for the Ichiran shop they had hoped to visit, but every location had a two-hour wait, so we gave up on it. We had crepes on Takeshita Street and finally had a late lunch at Ippudo in Harajuku. From Harajuku Station we took the JR line to Shinjuku Station and strolled through Shinjuku Gyoen.
Because of tiredness, we decided to skip another anime location the guests were especially fond of, and I guided them to the National Diet Building near their hotel before parting ways in front of the hotel a little earlier than planned. The guests made great use of Google Maps and helped me out from time to time along the way.

We had an excellent 6-hour walking tour around Tokyo with Maddie. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the city’s history and culture come alive with interesting stories and local insights. The tour was well-paced, organized, and tailored to our interests. We saw so much in a short time and learned things we would never have discovered on our own. Highly recommend Maddie for anyone visiting Tokyo!

Perfect intro to Japan!
We had a 4 hour private tour on our first morning in Tokyo, and it was the perfect introduction to Japan! We had been contacted by our guide Maddie before the tour, and we told her a few of the places we wanted to visit. She helped us navigate the train station and walked us through all the areas we wanted to see, as well as many other stops along the way that we wouldn’t have seen without her. Maddie was very knowledgeable and friendly, and spoke very clear English. She knew exactly which routes to take, and we would have taken at least twice as long if we tried to go to all those areas without her. She was a great guide and we wished we could have taken her along for the rest of our trip!
