What Can You See on a 6-Hour Private Tour of Takayama? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests had originally requested only a sake brewery, Takayama Jinya, the Sanmachi-suji old town, and the sake brewery, but since it looked like the 6 hours would leave time to spare, after the sake brewery I recommended the nearby Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall and Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, which they agreed to, so we visited them. The Takayama Festival happened to be just two days later, and after seeing the floats and footage of the Takayama Festival, the guests said, "We would have loved to see the Takayama Festival in person." They had always been fond of various kinds of Japanese cuisine, and at the Miyagawa Morning Market and along Sanmachi-suji they purchased items such as miso and sake. For lunch, they enjoyed a tofu-based meal. Afterward, with about another hour to spare, I guided them to the Hida Takayama Retro Museum and, as a dinner option, to Dekonaru Yokocho.
