Title: What's a Private Takayama Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a friendly group visiting from Europe. They were calm, kind, and very pleasant people. They were punctual, meticulous, and did not care for overly close interaction, preferring a lighter approach to sightseeing. They enjoyed taking photos and did not drink alcohol. They did not need lunch and had only a single dango skewer, as they said the hotel breakfast had been quite filling. They kindly showed me various photos of thatched roofs from Europe. They found the Sakurayama Nikkokan somewhat underwhelming. There was not enough time to visit the Takayama Jinya. Since they said they wanted to see many things, I kept up my usual brisk pace, but it seemed a little tough for them. I asked several times, but they said to keep this pace. They mentioned wanting to take it easy the next day and explore on their own at a leisurely pace, so I gave them some materials, which pleased them. By chance, we shared a ride with some elderly guests (who seemed quite troubled, so they quietly followed along partway), and the group showed them kind consideration as well. It seems they had to change hotels on short notice, so things were a bit hectic at the end. That gave me a slight concern, but they parted with smiles, and they even emailed me the photos taken with their camera, which made me very happy. One of the guests was bright and is learning a little basic Japanese. It rained lightly for a bit, but I am glad everything went well. Thank you.

I was born, raised, and still live in Takayama, and I am a licensed National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter.
My guiding philosophy is to create unforgettable memories through warm, cheerful, and engaging experiences. I enjoy sharing not only the highlights of the region, but also the history, culture, and stories that make each place unique.
I studied International Relations at a national university and have built a diverse career in the tourism industry, including hotels, travel agencies, and the local tourism association. Today, I primarily guide luxury travelers, as well as private and group tours, offering authentic cultural experiences, visits with local artisans, and in-depth insights into Japanese traditions.
I also practice Japanese calligraphy, the Omotesenke school of tea ceremony, Sencha (Baisa-ryu), and kimono dressing, allowing me to incorporate traditional Japanese culture into my tours.
I mainly guide in Takayama, Okuhida, Shirakawa-go, Gokayama, Kanazawa, and Kamikochi. I look forward to helping make your visit to Japan a truly memorable experience.

Mitsu was such a great and very much kind guide, we had such an amazing time with her!

Mitsu made our visit very special with her preparation and presentation. She is a wonderful ambassador for Takayama and her country. She was extremely tolerant of our changes to the initial itinerary due to the heat.
