Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Takayama and Shirakawa-go Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from Oceania. During our email arrangements, the timing was adjusted to 8:30–16:30 (they said they did not recall requesting the original 7:00–15:00).

[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private day tour covering Takayama and Shirakawa-go. In Takayama, we visited the Yatai Kaikan (Festival Float Exhibition Hall) and strolled through the Sanmachi old town district. For lunch, the guests enjoyed okonomiyaki, which they had also tried previously in Tokyo and Hiroshima; they noted that the Tokyo one had not been especially good.

At Shirakawa-go, there was a long line of cars waiting to enter the parking lot. To keep to our schedule, the guests got out of the car in front of the bus terminal, walked through the village to the opposite side, and re-boarded at a restaurant on the other side. This allowed us to stay on time. The guests appreciated the thatched-roof houses, though they found the smoke inside the homes less pleasant. The fresh green of the surrounding mountains was magnificent.

The conversations during the drive there and back were very enjoyable, including interesting stories and exchanges about each other's countries.
