Private Day Tour from Shizuoka Port to Satta Pass, Shiraito Falls, and Mount Fuji: A Licensed Guide's Report

I successfully met the guests from Europe at the port, and since Mount Fuji was visible, we headed for Satta Pass. We walked a little along the scenic observation deck and the promenade descending through the mandarin orange groves, fully enjoying the beautiful views of Mount Fuji, Suruga Bay, and the Izu Peninsula. We stopped by the Hiroshige Museum, which is under renovation but had works on display in its annex, and then headed to Shiraito Falls in Fujinomiya City. Along the way, the conversation turned to Japan's medical system and prices, and they remarked that the gasoline prices at a gas station we passed were quite cheap. At Shiraito Falls, the shop washed some shine muscat grapes for us, which we enjoyed deliciously. They also listened attentively to the story behind Otodome Falls. After that, we went to the World Heritage Center, and although we had once given up on seeing Mount Fuji, we received a phone call from the taxi driver saying "you can see the top from here," so we returned to the rooftop and could truly see the top of Mount Fuji peeking out. It was a very lucky day. Feeling encouraged, we then had hearty seafood rice bowls at the riverside market and said goodbye with smiles at the port. The next day, I received a thank-you email saying that the driver was quick-witted and the guide was attentive. A notable stop on the tour was Shiraito Falls in Fujinomiya City. Shiraito Falls is one of Japan's most famous waterfalls, listed as a Natural Monument and a Place of Scenic Beauty, and is also part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site. Fed by spring water from Mount Fuji, countless thin streams cascade down a wide curved cliff, resembling hanging threads of silk, which gives the falls their name. The surrounding area offers a peaceful natural setting that attracts many visitors throughout the year.

I have been teaching high school students for 40 years as an English teacher and guiding for 10years including a volunteer guide .Now I am a national government licensed guide. I have been dreaming to introduce Japanese culture including tasty Japanese food and history , our society and also some problems in it. It is a great moment of joy and excitement to be with you from all over the world. I love traveling around Japan and abroad myself. I visited East Germany ,too that does not exist any more. I am looking forward to guiding you in and around Shizuoka!
