Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Matsushima from Sendai Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests came to Japan for an academic conference held at a university, and it was their first visit to Sendai. Since they wanted to experience nature, they chose Matsushima. Apart from taking a sightseeing cruise, they had not decided where else to visit, so while we talked, after disembarking I suggested Fukuura Island in the prefectural natural botanical park. One of the guests seemed to have trouble with their knee, so we walked at a slower pace. As we had discussed by email, they had received a message telling them to download a ticket from an online booking platform but did not know what to do with it, so I also consulted with [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/). In the end, the guests were satisfied, which was a relief. Since today was a holiday, in addition to the regular hourly sightseeing cruises, extra departures on the half-hour were also added, and the cruise company recommended that the extra service was less crowded, so we were able to spend the time in a relaxed manner. One of the guests could not eat meat while another enjoyed meat, so at a restaurant where both could be accommodated, each enjoyed what they liked. During the meal, the guests asked me all sorts of questions about my own family, and while we were enjoying the conversation, the time for the planned train drew near. It would only be possible to see the approach path, but as we were to part at Matsushima-Kaigan, I asked whether they would like to see Zuiganji Temple, and they enthusiastically agreed, so I guided them around Zuiganji Temple. As befitting scholars, they asked many questions about the tsunami damage. On the way back, we took the 15:10 train and arrived at Tagajo Station, the station nearest my home, at 15:27, and since their accommodation was Hotel, after getting off the train I explained how to reach the east exit and we parted ways.
