Tour Itinerary
- 8:30 Meet at hotel lobby
- To Ouchi-juku by Aizu Railway and bus
- 2 hours from 10:15, strolling and shopping
- Return to Yunokami Onsen Station by bus, coffee time at the foot bath. Return to Aizu-Wakamatsu by train.
- Ends at 14:30
What Is a Private Guided Tour of Ouchi-juku and Fukushima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour for the guests, who were visiting Japan for the first time and had chosen to travel around Hokkaido, Tohoku, and Hokuriku to avoid the crowds. The guests had decided to visit Ouchi-juku after seeing photos of it. We visited Takakura Shrine and the Abe Family Residence (Minoya). I believe they enjoyed browsing the various goods in the local shops as well. Although it was their first time in Japan, they had already been traveling for about two weeks and had gained a good deal of knowledge by studying with YouTube beforehand. On the way back, we took a coffee break at the footbath at Yunokami Onsen Station. We were also able to meet the cat stationmaster at Ashinomaki Onsen Station.

I also can take you to the coastal area of Fukushima. There are several memorial museums related to the Great East Japan Earthquake and nuclear power plant accident. You will see how people are working hard for the revitalization of the area.

We had a very pleasant time touring the Old Samurai Residences and Tsuruga jo Castle with Yoko, she really elevated the experience with her knowledge about the history.
A tip for future tourists, be sure to check your spam folder for email correspondence from your tour guide after booking, I didn’t know they were trying to reach out to me and almost had the tour canceled for not responding.

Incredible experience with a great team. I could not recommend more highly. 10/10!
This was a remarkable experience. Yoko was extremely knowledgeable and kind and was a great communicator. We had close access to observe Daiichi and the remediation and recovery efforts underway, following the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear accident. It was an opportunity to learn and experience the impact first hand. I could not recommend this experience more highly and I have visited Chernobyl previously. 10/10!

Viator review: Ouchijuku 6hr Private Tour with Government Licensed Guide
This tour was amazing thanks to Yoko!! We had a lot of fun traveling to Ochijuku with her by train starting in Aizu, talking about the area and history of Fukushima on the way and discovering the small town’s shops and homes in the end. Highly recommend, we will come back to do other tours with her 🙂
