What's a Private Osaka Food and Shopping Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America. They had visited Japan several times before, and for this trip they had planned to see shrines and temples in Tokyo and Kyoto before coming to Osaka, where they wanted to focus on food and shopping. For lunch, I guided them on a food-tasting walk through Kuromon Market, and for shopping and sightseeing I took them to shopping streets that are each popular with locals, as well as a museum where they could experience Osaka as it has been from the Edo period onward. The guests were very satisfied. For dinner, I made a reservation at a restaurant near their hotel where they could enjoy Kansai-style dashi broth, serving "udon-chiri," and I received a report that they had a wonderful time watching the staff prepare the hot pot, which left me very pleased as well.

Sachiko was our tour guide and she is one of the best we have had. Not only did she show us Osaka in the rain, she went above and stayed with us 45 minutes past the tour time to make sure she brought us back to our hotel and taught us the trains to take and the restaurants around. We highly appreciate her.

I enjoyed seeing Osaka through Sachiko’s eyes and experience. She showed me what was special about Osaka, answered my numerous questions about life in this city and in Japan. Sachiko or Choko Ogura is a fantastic guide who not only explained the importance but also the backgrounds and histories in details of the locations we visited.
She is extremely proficient in English but is lovely lady with very helpful and pleasant nature. She guided us about what to do and what not to do.
