What Are the Best Osaka Highlights for a Private One-Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America. One of them had traveled to Osaka several times before and had returned again this time, while the trip was the first visit to Japan for others in the group, so I was asked to guide them around some of the recommended highlights of Osaka. We visited Osaka Castle, Shitennoji Temple, Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, and Dotonbori, and we enjoyed takoyaki along the way. Before coming to Japan, the guests had already visited Tokyo and other places, where they had purchased a number of lucky charms. At Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, they also bought several cat-shaped charms said to bring business prosperity, and they showed great interest in the purification area within the shrine grounds where prayers for traffic safety are offered.

Sachiko was our tour guide and she is one of the best we have had. Not only did she show us Osaka in the rain, she went above and stayed with us 45 minutes past the tour time to make sure she brought us back to our hotel and taught us the trains to take and the restaurants around. We highly appreciate her.

I enjoyed seeing Osaka through Sachiko’s eyes and experience. She showed me what was special about Osaka, answered my numerous questions about life in this city and in Japan. Sachiko or Choko Ogura is a fantastic guide who not only explained the importance but also the backgrounds and histories in details of the locations we visited.
She is extremely proficient in English but is lovely lady with very helpful and pleasant nature. She guided us about what to do and what not to do.
