What's a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America who had just arrived at Kansai Airport the previous evening. Although it was a hot and humid day, they showed no signs of jet lag and walked around energetically while drinking plenty of bottled water. They mentioned that when their family had traveled to Japan over thirty years ago, everything had been very expensive due to the strong yen, so they were happy to be visiting now with a weaker yen. They planned to visit Japan across several trips, and this time they focused on the Kansai and Kanto regions, staying for two weeks. They cheerfully shared their well-researched itinerary, holding their newly purchased ICOCA cards: staying two nights in Arashiyama and two nights in Gion while strolling around Kyoto, taking a day trip to Nara from Osaka, and then spending a week in Tokyo. It was a very pleasant journey together.

Sachiko was our tour guide and she is one of the best we have had. Not only did she show us Osaka in the rain, she went above and stayed with us 45 minutes past the tour time to make sure she brought us back to our hotel and taught us the trains to take and the restaurants around. We highly appreciate her.

I enjoyed seeing Osaka through Sachiko’s eyes and experience. She showed me what was special about Osaka, answered my numerous questions about life in this city and in Japan. Sachiko or Choko Ogura is a fantastic guide who not only explained the importance but also the backgrounds and histories in details of the locations we visited.
She is extremely proficient in English but is lovely lady with very helpful and pleasant nature. She guided us about what to do and what not to do.
