The guests were visitors from North America, making their first trip to Asia. Despite the rainy weather that required an umbrella throughout the day, the guests showed deep interest in Japanese castles and temples and asked many questions. During the Higan period, Shitennoji Temple is usually lively with street stalls, but the stalls were closed because of the rain, and Osaka Castle could not be seen from Harukas, which was unfortunate. Even so, the guests enjoyed the little surprise of finding money and an ICOCA card on the street, and bought their favorite chopsticks in bulk at Doguyasuji. Thanks to their warm personalities, we were able to enjoy the tour. The planned Dotonbori cruise was postponed to a later date, and since they decided to return to the Hotel for the time being, I saw them off while introducing nearby okonomiyaki restaurants and other spots. A notable stop on the tour was Shitennoji Temple. Shitennoji is widely regarded as one of Japan's oldest officially administered Buddhist temples, founded in the early seventh century. It is known for its classic temple layout, with the main gate, pagoda, and main hall arranged in a straight line, reflecting one of the earliest styles of Buddhist architecture in Japan. The temple grounds also feature a serene garden and halls that offer visitors a glimpse into centuries of religious and cultural history.

Sachiko was our tour guide and she is one of the best we have had. Not only did she show us Osaka in the rain, she went above and stayed with us 45 minutes past the tour time to make sure she brought us back to our hotel and taught us the trains to take and the restaurants around. We highly appreciate her.

I enjoyed seeing Osaka through Sachiko’s eyes and experience. She showed me what was special about Osaka, answered my numerous questions about life in this city and in Japan. Sachiko or Choko Ogura is a fantastic guide who not only explained the importance but also the backgrounds and histories in details of the locations we visited.
She is extremely proficient in English but is lovely lady with very helpful and pleasant nature. She guided us about what to do and what not to do.
