What Is a Private Walking Tour of Onomichi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The weather was better than forecast, and the guests enjoyed the view of the Seto Inland Sea from the observation deck. On the way down we were caught in a heavy downpour, but the guests had brought a folding umbrella, so we managed to get through it. They had apparently visited temples elsewhere as well, and they listened with great interest and curiosity to the explanation of Onomichi's distinctive geographical and historical background and the blending of Shinto and Buddhist traditions. At the observation deck, the guests enjoyed lemon soft-serve, describing it as being like Italian gelato or sorbet. They were quite surprised to learn for the first time that lemons are grown on the islands of the Seto Inland Sea.

Hello! My name is Miyoko Akashi, and I’d be delighted to be your guide. I’ve been working as a tour guide for eight years.
I was born in Nagoya and have lived in Hiroshima for about 40 years, so I know the Seto Inland Sea region very well.
Before becoming a guide, I taught English, mainly to high school students, for many years and was actively involved in international exchange programs.
In my free time, I enjoy photography and running. I’ve traveled all over Japan to take photographs and participate in marathon races, and I always enjoy discovering new places and meeting new people.
I look forward to sharing the beauty, history, and culture of this wonderful region with you.
