- 10:12: Meet up at Shimo-imaichi Station ➡ 10:20: Nikko Station ➡ Move from Nikko Station to Kanmangafuchi Abyss (on foot) ➡ 10:50-11:30 Kanmangafuchi Abyss ➡ 11:45-12:25 Lunch @ Takumian ➡ 12:45-14:45 Toshogu Shrine ➡ 14:50-15:25 Taiyuin ➡ 15:30-15:55 Futarasan Shrine ➡ Move toward Rinnoji Sanbutsudo (on foot) ➡ 16:05-16:20 Sorinto, Sanbutsudo (entry prohibited from 15:30, so peek inside from outside) ➡ 16:30-16:35 Shinkyo Bridge ➡ Move from Shinkyo bus stop to Tobu Nikko Station (by bus) ➡ 16:45 Dismissal
Title: What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Toshogu and Taiyuin
The guests missed a connection at Kita-Senju, which delayed our meeting. In addition, at the guests' request, the meeting point was changed from Tobu-Nikko Station to Shimo-Imaichi Station. Because the meeting and the start of the tour were delayed by about an hour, we were unable to enter Sanbutsudo Hall to view its three Buddhist statues as originally planned. However, thanks to the guests' cooperation—walking quickly and shortening the meal time—I believe they thoroughly enjoyed Toshogu Shrine and Taiyuin Mausoleum. One of the guests had read up on Nikko in advance and asked a rapid series of questions, which made for a demanding but very rewarding guiding experience. I was able to answer most questions, and when I did not know something I said so honestly; the guests did not take offense and kindly rephrased their questions, which I felt considerate of them. Since I heard this was the last day of their trip in Japan, I took special care to make sure no bad memories remained. That said, the complexity of arranging Tobu train tickets is confusing even for Japanese people who are not used to it (the guests appeared quite frustrated by it), so I stayed with them until I could confirm with a Tobu Railway staff member that they would be able to board their train. This seemed to please them, and I am glad about that.

Ichiro was an awesome tour guide and made our trip to Nikko a super memorable one! He was extremely knowledge in the history of the city and was amazing. We were also late coming from Tokyo due to losing our suica card and ichiro accommodated us immensely. Highly recommended and an amazing person to have as your guide!

Ichi made our trip to Nikko very memorable. He was veery knowledgeable about all aspects of Nico and divided our trip up into nature and temples. Very organized and had a plan to maximize our time. He was very personable and made our one day in Nikko very very special.

Our day in Nikko with Ichi was truly the highlight of our trip to Japan. He was absolutely amazing from start to finish ? friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and a real pleasure to spend the day with. He made the whole experience so special and memorable, sharing fascinating insights and helping us appreciate Nikko even more. We also had a great lunch together and a lovely coffee in the afternoon, which made the day feel even more personal and enjoyable. Thanks to Ichi, this was not just a tour, but one of the most beautiful memories of our trip. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.
