What Is a Private Day Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Because it was peak season, the bus service was running irregularly. Since crowds were also expected, I placed Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park at the very beginning of the itinerary, and then added a visit to Toshogu Shrine even though it overlapped with the lunch period. This was, of course, done with the guests' approval. As a result, the visit to Shinkyo Bridge, the gateway to Nikko, came last of all. I apologized for this at the end, but the guests seemed to understand my reasoning and accepted it. The guests had previously worked in Japan for about four years, so they had a good understanding of the appeal of Japan. Their questions were also very apt, and we were able to converse from many different angles, making it a two-way conversation, so I believe they were satisfied. There was just one question I could not answer — "Why do monks shave their heads?" — so I plan to look into it and let them know at a later date. Since one of the guests had pain in the heel, I stayed close by and provided a little support, being careful of stairs and slopes where they tended to fall behind, but partway through they used pole walking and kindly reassured me, saying "It's fine, it's fine."

I am more than happy to take you to attractive tourism resources scattered in Nikko. I will prepare for your trip enough to satisfy your requests and provide you with the memorable tour. When I was a company employee, I lived abroad for 5 years in Los Angeles, 11 and a half years in Washington D.C. and 2 and half years in Brussels. Despite 19 year long stay abroad, I remain charmed by Japanese things, such as culture, custom, spirit, martial art etc. I am glad if I can be of help you understand Japan as well as Nikko through my guide. I am interested in Japanese martial arts: I own the third grade in Japanese archery, known as Kyudo and I have passed a certification examination (1st grade) for Sumo wrestling conducted by the Japanese Sumo Promoting Association.

A Great day with Ichi
Our day in Nikko with Ichi was truly the highlight of our trip to Japan. He was absolutely amazing from start to finish ? friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and a real pleasure to spend the day with. He made the whole experience so special and memorable, sharing fascinating insights and helping us appreciate Nikko even more. We also had a great lunch together and a lovely coffee in the afternoon, which made the day feel even more personal and enjoyable. Thanks to Ichi, this was not just a tour, but one of the most beautiful memories of our trip. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.
