What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from North America. They both listened very attentively to my explanations and asked many questions, which made our conversation very lively. In Nikko, two shrines and one temple are registered as World Heritage sites, and in order to explain the relationship among these two shrines and one temple, I had to begin with an explanation of Shinto and Buddhism. Through this, I renewed my awareness that for guiding in Nikko it is essential to be able to give a convincing explanation of the Japanese view of religion, as well as of Shinto and Buddhism. Also, when the guests asked what they should do the next day, I recommended Nikko Edomura.
