What Is a Private Day Trip to Nikko Like in Winter? A Licensed Guide's Report

It was a cold day, with parts of the ground partially frozen, but the guests remained energetic throughout the tour. We had planned to meet at Tobu Nikko Station at 8:30, but the guest coming from Tokyo missed the train and came by taxi, so we started by boarding the bus at 9:05. Kegon Falls was quite cold, with many parts frozen over. After briefly viewing Lake Chuzenji, we moved on to Kanmangafuchi Abyss. We went down to the river and touched the water, which made me a little nervous. At Toshogu Shrine, the guests took their time visiting all the facilities. I had not known that the Crying Dragon (Nakiryu) had become free of charge. We arrived slightly after the opening time at Rinnoji Temple, so we only viewed it from the outside, and we parted ways at Shinkyo Bridge. The tour ran slightly over the scheduled time.
