What Is a Private Nara Day Tour from Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America and Europe. The assignment listed 7 Adults, so I was a little confused at first. Some of the guests were visiting Japan for the first time, while others had been to Japan several times but were visiting Nara for the first time. When we arrived at Todai-ji, one of the guests began to feel unwell, so we quickly left Todai-ji and waited outside. Since the members of the group tended to move around separately, it was quite difficult to guide everyone together. Shopping at Todai-ji also took some time, and because one of the guests mistook the exit for the entrance, we had to wait for a while. The guest who felt unwell recovered after drinking some water. It was another hot day in Nara, and afterward we visited a restaurant for lunch, Kasuga Taisha, and Naramachi. If anything, the younger members of the group were full of energy while the others were struggling with the heat. At the "Karakuri Toy Museum," some of the guests played happily, while others rested in front of the air conditioner or on the tatami in a separate room. At the "Karakuri Toy Museum," it was a little disappointing that the shadow-play attraction, which had been popular before, was no longer there. We had planned to go shopping afterward, but the group said they wanted to head to their hotel, so we traveled from Nara to the hotel in Osaka, and the tour ended earlier than scheduled. The photo was taken at the lunch restaurant.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.
