Tour Itinerary in Detail
This private tour of Nara began at 10:10, when the guide met the guests at @JR Nara Station, and finished at 15:25. The day ran to 5 hours and 15 minutes from start to finish. It included lunch @Tenpyo Club at 12:00.
From there the group visited Kofuku-ji Temple sightseeing at 10:20, Todai-ji approach & Nandaimon Gate at 11:20, Todai-ji Great Buddha Hall & Nigatsudo sightseeing at 13:35 and Kasuga Taisha Shrine sightseeing at 14:30.

The guests were interested in history and listened with great interest to talks about the Buddhist statues at Kofuku-ji Temple, the Great Buddha of Nara, the difference between shrines and temples, and comparisons between Nara and Kyoto. They also bought plenty of deer crackers and enjoyed feeding the deer. At the restaurant, the guests ordered a set meal course with wagyu beef and a beef rice bowl. They praised the beautiful garden as very relaxing. We met at JR Nara Station coming from Kyoto, and the guests did well walking the entire time without using public transportation even once.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Andy Murao was an amazing and wonderful tour guide. He reached out to us with some ideas for our private tour. He worked with us as we made the tour perfectly suited to our needs. He met us on time. He navigated the crowds and the sites perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He even put together a nice photo collection of photos he emailed us after. Highly recommend.
