What Is a Private Nagasaki Tour of Atomic Bomb and Christian History Sites Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests wished to focus mainly on the history of Christianity and the atomic bomb in Nagasaki. With a 3-hour extension by vehicle, I had thought there might be extra time to spare, but it was memorable how thoroughly the guests explored each site — so much so that toward the end we had to move a little quickly. At the Takashi Nagai Memorial Museum, the taxi driver was asked to convey that the museum director is a grandchild of Takashi Nagai, and when this was shared, one of the guests was moved to tears. At Sanno Shrine, the guests were deeply impressed that the atomic-bombed camphor trees, despite having suffered the effects of the bomb, were still flourishing with leaves.
