Title: What Is a Private Nagasaki Cruise Port Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

When the guests first came out of the cruise terminal, they said, "There are nine of us." I explained, "I believe it was communicated in advance that the car can only seat seven people." They replied, "Understood, two of us will follow behind in a separate taxi," and we set off. In the end, however, those two took separate action, and the tour was carried out with seven guests.

After departing, I explained in the car that the planned destinations were the atomic bomb-related facilities, Suwa Shrine, Dejima, Glover Garden, Oura Church, and, if possible, a spot where cherry blossoms could be seen.

After about 45 minutes at the Atomic Bomb Museum, I handed out an area map I had obtained the previous day at the tourist information office at Nagasaki Station, explained the walking route ahead, and then guided everyone on foot to the hypocenter and Peace Park. After the visit, we boarded the car that had been waiting at Peace Park, passed by the one-legged torii gate, and went to Suwa Shrine.

When we departed from Suwa Shrine, the guests expressed a wish to visit Urakami Cathedral, so I explained this to the driver and, with the driver's agreement (even though it meant returning to the atomic bomb-related area), we went to Urakami Cathedral.

After the visit to Urakami Cathedral, the group's leader pointed to the reverse side of the map I had handed out when leaving the Atomic Bomb Museum, which showed a somewhat wider area, and made a request: "There are some of us who would like to explore this area on our own and then catch a taxi back to the terminal by ourselves." I explained, "The ship departs at 6:00 p.m., so please return to the terminal by 5:00 p.m. at the latest," and I gave them two pieces of paper with "Matsugae International Cruise Terminal" written on them to hand to the taxi driver they would later ride with. Five of the seven guests then left the group.

The remaining members were the group's leader and one other, for a total of two people. At this point they again told me their desired destinations, and in accordance with their wishes, we went to Dejima and the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum (photographing only the exterior of the building).

On the way to Dejima, I had the driver pass by Tateyama Park where cherry blossoms could be seen, but the blossoms were not yet fully in bloom.

At Dejima, I guided them to the Kapitan's Quarters and the Archaeology Museum, and then we headed to the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum.

After the art museum (photographing only the exterior of the building), the guests expressed a wish to go to the Uniqlo inside the You-me Town Mall that was visible from there. We decided to walk to the You-me Town Mall.

At this point the time was 1:00 p.m. The driver had initially said, "After 2:00 p.m., an overtime charge will apply and must be paid in cash," and since I had conveyed this to the guests at the start of the tour, I arranged for the car to come pick us up at the You-me Town Mall taxi stand at 1:55.

After arriving on foot at the You-me Town Mall (around 1:10), I gave the guests free time and set a meeting at the taxi stand for 1:55. The guests returned on time, but they said, "We'd like to spend a bit more time here on our own, such as having a meal. We'll catch a taxi here ourselves and return to the cruise terminal." Soon the car also came to the taxi stand, so I explained the situation to the driver, who agreed, and the guests retrieved their luggage from the car, ending the tour at this location.

The tour ended safely without any accidents, and since the destinations were as the guests wished, I believe they were satisfied. However, I think I should have called and consulted with [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) when five of the seven guests left the group partway through, or at the point when the tour ended before returning to the terminal.
